If there's one thing we've learned about Jeep over the years, it's that the company isn't shy about pushing boundaries, testing limits, and having lots and lots of fun. For evidence, one need only look at the SRT and Trackhawk iterations of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which crank out 470 and 707 horsepower, respectively. But while these overcharged performance models represent the most extreme offerings in the Jeep lineup, all that power is meant for laying down rubber on the blacktop. Considering the Jeep brand's long-time synonymity with off-road adventure, this led many to speculate whether an absurdly potent powerplant would find its way under the hood of the most adventurous vehicle on the market, the Jeep Wrangler.

Well, thrill-seekers from Alexandria to Potomac should be overjoyed to know that the answer is yes, and that it's arriving sooner than you think. The all-new Rubicon 392 is quite simply the craziest production Jeep Wrangler ever built. The mountain-conquering behemoth equips a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine producing a roaring 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. If the thought of a Jeep Wrangler sprinting to 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds doesn't get you excited, you may want to check your pulse.

But unlike the track-focused Grand Cherokee monsters, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 is ready to exert dominance on all kinds of terrain. In addition to the HEMI V-8, it features Dana 44 axles, Fox shocks, electronic locking differentials, and an electronic sway-bar disconnect for superior articulation. The Rubicon 392 also boasts 33-inch mud-terrain tires wrapped around custom 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, plus the sure-footed control of an advanced full-time Selec-Trac® 4x4 System.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in early 2021, and we couldn't be more excited. And when it finally arrives at our Ourisman Jeep dealership in Bethesda, we welcome Chevy Case and Vienna adventure-seekers to book a test drive and experience this leviathan Wrangler for themselves. We'll be happy to give you a tour.
